About Audrey Levi
Audrey Levi has enjoyed a distinguished career as an educator and advocate for special needs students in New York and New Jersey. After graduating from New York University with a Masters degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology she worked for several years as a speech therapist, and has received a Teacher of the Year award.
Ms. Levi returned to school to fulfill her goal of supporting students more globally. She obtained a Principal’s certificate and was appointed a Principal for the Bergen County Special Services School District’s program for hearing impaired children. During her tenure as principal, Ms. Levi applied for and received several grants in the areas of science and technology. Subsequently, she was promoted to Supervisor of Instruction. Some of her duties included the responsibility to ensure that the district placed all 1000 students appropriately, being a liaison with the local districts’ special services departments, and facilitating professional development for all instructional staff.
For more than 15 years, Ms. Levi was a Director of Special Services in two public school districts, where she was responsible for complying with all federal and state mandates. Ms. Levi oversaw the child study team and all of the special education teachers and teacher assistants in the district. She approached her leadership role as an advocate for each special needs student and provided programs that enhanced each student’s academic instruction.
Ms. Levi’s energy and commitment to improving outcomes for special needs students continues undiminished today, as evidenced by her active involvement as a member of ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association), ASCD (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development), NJPSA (New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association), and as a board member of NJSEAA (North Jersey Special Education Administrators Association)
